Pat Cooley Wins Community Hero Award

LEMOYNE, Neb. – Pat Cooley, co-founder and longtime volunteer of the Lemoyne Senior Center, was named a Community Hero by News Channel Nebraska and Medica, earning a $1,000 donation for the center she’s helped build and sustain over the past two decades.
Cooley, of Lemoyne, was surprised with the honor on Friday at the center she and her late husband, Burdette, helped create in 2005. The award recognized her unwavering commitment to improving the lives of senior citizens across the rural Keith County community.

Have you ever wondered why they call that big gray structure at the southern end of the dam, The Morning Glory? Or why there is water spraying out of the power plant on the east side of the dam?
Recently Nate Nielsen, Kingsley Dam Forman, answered those questions and gave an outstanding tour to 5 Lemoyne Senior Center Board members and 4 guests. If anyone is interested in his tour he can be contacted at the Visitor and Water Interpretive Center 308-284-8800. The Visitor and Water Interpretive Center is open to the public during peak season from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily and during non-peak season from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
